Suspect Nabbed with Cash and Mobile Evidence in Illegal Gambling Probe
Dhubri, April 3: In a significant operation against illegal betting activities, Dhubri Police have arrested a suspected bookie linked to IPL gambling. The accused, Rahim Ali, a resident of Ward No. 12, New Ghat, was apprehended with Rs 30,240 in cash and two mobile phones, which are believed to contain vital evidence related to the betting racket.
The arrest was made during a well-coordinated raid led by Sub-Inspector Jyotirmoy Das, assisted by Woman Sub-Inspector (P) Pompi Hazarika and a team from Sadar Police Station. Officials suspect that the confiscated money is directly tied to ongoing betting transactions, while forensic analysis of the seized mobile phones is expected to uncover further connections within the illegal gambling network.
As the IPL season fuels a surge in betting activities, Dhubri Police have ramped up enforcement efforts to dismantle unlawful gambling operations. Investigators are currently tracing other individuals linked to this network, aiming to curb betting-related crimes in the region.
Rahim Ali is now in police custody, and authorities have launched a detailed probe to expose the full scope of the betting syndicate and apprehend additional suspects involved in the illicit operation.
