Compartmental exam to help unsuccessful students secure promotion without losing the academic year.
Guwahati — The Assam State School Education Board (SEBA) has officially released a notification regarding the Compartmental Examination for HSLC 2025. This opportunity is extended to students who could not pass the main HSLC Examination but meet certain eligibility criteria.
According to Notification No. ASSEB/D-I/EX/D-I/Compt/6/2025/166, dated April 11, 2025, students who failed in a maximum of three subjects and have obtained a minimum of 170 marks in aggregate are eligible to appear in this single-chance compartmental examination.
Key Eligibility Criteria:
- Students must have failed in not more than three subjects.
- They must have scored at least 170 marks in total in the HSLC 2025 exams.
- To pass the compartmental exam, students must score a minimum of 30% in each subject appeared, and the total marks after the exam must be 180 or above.
Successful candidates will be allowed to take admission in higher secondary classes in the same academic year, ensuring their academic continuity.
Compartmental Exam Details:
- The exam will be held once (single chance), and the date will be announced later.
- Students must apply for the exam through their respective schools.
- The online application process is expected to begin within three days from the declaration of HSLC results.
Examination Fees:
- Rs 500 per subject (to be paid online or via SBI challan).
- Rs 150 as centre fee (applicable to all candidates).
What Happens if a Student Fails the Compartmental Exam?
If a candidate is unable to clear the compartmental exam, they will need to take re-admission in their school and appear as a regular candidate in the next academic year, if they so wish.
