Five Accused from Nagaon Arrested; Investigation Ongoing

Guwahati: In a shocking incident, a man traveling to watch an IPL match at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati was abducted on March 26 but was later rescued by the police.

The victim, Fakhruddin Bhuyan, a resident of Barpeta, was kidnapped by a group of five men from the Bhagadattapur area while he was on his way to the stadium.

Police Rescue Operation in Meghalaya

Acting swiftly, the Darrang police launched an investigation and tracked the victim to Umiam, Meghalaya, where he was successfully rescued. The rescue operation was conducted in coordination with Meghalaya police.

Five Arrested, Motive Under Investigation

The police have arrested all five accused, who hail from Nagaon district. The suspects have been identified as:

  • Abul Hussain

  • Abul Nachar

  • Sahir Ahmed

  • Abu Kashem

  • Abdul Hanan

Authorities are currently probing the motive behind the abduction, and further legal proceedings are underway. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
