Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, led a high-level security review meeting in New Delhi to assess the situation in Manipur. The meeting, attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Indian Army, and paramilitary forces, focused on restoring stability in the state.

Shah reiterated the Modi government’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace in Manipur and pledged all necessary assistance to resolve ongoing security concerns.

Key Directives from the Meeting

  • Unrestricted Movement: From March 8, 2025, all roads in Manipur must remain open, with strict action against anyone obstructing free movement.
  • Combating Extortion: Authorities were instructed to continue taking strong measures against extortion-related crimes.
  • Border Security Enhancements: The fencing work along designated entry points on Manipur’s international border must be expedited to curb illegal activities.
  • War on Drugs: The government will dismantle the entire network involved in the drug trade to make Manipur drug-free.

The meeting also saw discussions with key stakeholders, including the Governor of Manipur, Union Home Secretary, Intelligence Bureau officials, senior Army officers, and heads of paramilitary forces like the BSF, CRPF, and Assam Rifles.

The Centre’s latest directives mark a decisive step toward reinforcing law and order in Manipur while ensuring uninterrupted movement and economic stability in the region.
