Why Is the Show Controversial?
India’s Got Latent is a YouTube-based talent show hosted by comedian Samay Raina, featuring various performances and discussions. However, recent episodes have sparked widespread criticism due to explicit content.
One of the most controversial moments occurred when Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps), appearing as a guest judge, asked a contestant an inappropriate question:
"Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?"
Following the backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology, admitting his mistake. "My comment was not just inappropriate; it was not even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry," he stated in a video message.
The show has faced criticism for other incidents as well. A contestant previously mocked actress Deepika Padukone’s battle with depression, drawing severe backlash. Additionally, another episode featured a participant whose dress was cut on stage, leading to further outrage.
Growing Concerns Over Online Content Regulation
The FIR against these influencers highlights increasing scrutiny over digital content in India. With social media platforms playing a major role in entertainment, authorities are now focusing on content that may violate legal and ethical standards.
As the investigation unfolds, this case raises important questions about freedom of expression, digital responsibility, and content regulation in the age of social media.
