Guwahati, January 9, 2025 – The Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE), Assam, has announced a recruitment drive to fill 1,600 vacancies for Assistant Teachers, Science Teachers, and Hindi Teachers in Upper Primary (UP) Schools across the state. The online application process will commence on February 15, 2025, and conclude on March 31, 2025.
The recruitment aims to enhance the quality of elementary education in Assam under the provisions of the Right to Education Act, 2009. The selected candidates will be appointed in Pay Band – 2 (PB-2) with a scale ranging from ₹14,000 to ₹70,000, plus grade pay and other allowances as per the Assam Service Rules (Amendment, 2019).

1. Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates must have cleared the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (ATET) or Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for Upper Primary Schools.
- Language proficiency in either Language-I or Language-II of the TET must match the medium of instruction of the applied school.
Age limits (as of January 1, 2025):
General: 18-40 years.
Ex-Servicemen: 42 years.
OBC/MOBC: 43 years.
SC/ST(P)/ST(H): 45 years.
PwD: 50 years.
Candidates with more than two living children born on or after January 1, 2021, are not eligible, as per the Assam Government’s Small Family Norms.
2. Vacancy Distribution:
District-wise, medium-wise, and category-wise details will be published after approval from relevant government departments.
3. Essential Qualifications and Weightage:
The recruitment process will follow a merit-based selection system. Marks from academic qualifications, teaching certifications, and TET scores will be considered, with additional weightage for NCC certificates, national-level sports achievements, and cultural activities.
4. Documents to be Uploaded:
Passport-sized photograph.
HSLC admit card, HSSLC, and graduation mark sheets and certificates.
D.El.Ed/B.Ed mark sheets and certificates.
Caste and disability certificates (if applicable).
Proof of permanent residence in Assam.
ATET/CTET certificates.
