Four MLAs Sworn in to Strengthen Governance and Regional Representation
Newly Inducted Ministers
Prasanta Phookan – MLA from Dibrugarh constituency.
Kaushik Rai – MLA from Lakhipur constituency.
Krishnendu Paul – MLA from Patharkandi constituency.
Rupesh Goala – MLA from Doomdooma constituency.
This expansion increases the strength of the Council of Ministers to 20, leaving one position vacant, which Chief Minister Sarma confirmed would be filled in the near future.
Focus on Regional Representation
The cabinet reshuffle aims to address regional disparities, particularly the previous lack of representation from Assam’s Barak Valley. Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Sarma emphasized the significance of inclusivity in governance:
"Barak Valley was not represented in our council earlier. With this expansion, we aim to ensure balanced representation across regions. The new ministers will help strengthen our council and accelerate the state’s development activities. The remaining vacancy will also be filled soon," he said.
Driving Development Across Assam
The addition of these four ministers comes at a time when Assam is witnessing a surge in developmental activities. The expanded council is expected to streamline governance and enhance the state’s ability to address pressing issues, fostering growth and inclusivity.
The cabinet expansion reflects the Assam government’s commitment to equitable development and its vision to bring all regions of the state under the umbrella of progress.
With further appointments anticipated in the coming days, the Assam government appears poised to build a stronger, more representative cabinet to drive its ambitious agenda forward.
