Diphu, November 18, 2024– Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, concluded his visit to the Karbi Anglong district with a series of key engagements aimed at assessing educational infrastructure and major development projects.  

The Minister began the day with a photo session at Circuit House, Diphu, accompanied by district officials. BJP East Karbi Anglong President Roland Killing extended a warm welcome to Dr. Kumar and held discussions on regional concerns and developmental priorities.  

Focus on Education  
At 8:00 AM, Dr. Kumar, along with Deputy Commissioner Smti. Nirola Phangchopi, MP Amarsing Tisso, MLA Dorsing Ronghang, and an Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), visited the Junior Basic L.P. School. During the visit, the Minister interacted with teachers, beneficiaries, and students, highlighting the importance of strengthening the school’s infrastructure to create a better learning environment.  

NH-29 Road Project Review
At 9:00 AM, Dr. Kumar inspected the progress of the NH-29 four-lane road construction project during a visit to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) camp in Amlokhi under the Manja area. The project, spanning 118.25 kilometers from Doboka to Lahorijan, has achieved 65% completion. NHIDCL officials briefed the Minister on challenges, particularly delays in land acquisition for government and private lands.  

Dr. Kumar urged the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and district authorities to expedite land acquisition processes and ensure that the project meets the revised completion deadline of June 25, 2025.  

Concluding the Visit
By 10:00 AM, Dr. Kumar wrapped up his engagements and departed for Dimapur Airport, marking the end of his visit to Karbi Anglong. His directives are expected to accelerate progress in both infrastructure development and educational initiatives, reinforcing the government’s commitment to regional growth.
