Guwahati, October 19, 2024: Ms. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, was warmly welcomed at Guwahati Airport today during her visit to the city. Officials and volunteers from the Gauhati University National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, along with Mr. Jangjilong, Regional Director of NSS North Eastern Region (NER) Guwahati, extended a traditional Assamese reception to the Minister.
Dr. Ranjan Kr Kakati, Director of Students' Welfare at Gauhati University, greeted Ms. Khadse with the customary Gamosa and Japi, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of Assam. The brief welcome ceremony marked the beginning of her visit, underscoring the commitment of the NSS and university officials to youth and sports development in the region.
Ms. Khadse’s arrival was also attended by officials from Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), along with NSS Program Officers Ayez Ali, Shantanu Roy Choudhury, Nurul Islam, Dr. Satyabrat Baruah, Dr. Rituparna Bora, and several NSS volunteers. The event served as a gesture of appreciation for the Minister’s ongoing support towards youth affairs and sports in Assam.
While the visit was brief, it symbolized the collaboration between the government and educational institutions in furthering youth engagement and sports initiatives.
