CID Officer Saroj Deka Dismissed, Golaghat OC Jitumoni Deka Suspended for Involvement in Financial Scams
Assam Police register 28 cases as part of intensified efforts against illegal financial activities.
In a decisive move against illegal financial activities, Assam Director General of Police (DGP) G.P. Singh announced the dismissal and suspension of two police officers found to be involved in unregulated deposit schemes. The crackdown comes as part of an intensified effort by Assam authorities to curb illegal financial operations in the state.

Lance Naik Saroj Deka, who was serving with the Assam CID, has been dismissed from service under Article 311(2)(b) of the Constitution of India and Rule 10(ii) of the Assam Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1964. Deka was found to be actively involved in such schemes, and his dismissal is seen as a strong message to law enforcement personnel that involvement in illegal activities will not be tolerated.

In a related development, Inspector Jitumoni Deka, Officer-in-Charge (O/C) of Golaghat Police Station, was suspended with immediate effect. The suspension comes in the wake of allegations suggesting his close proximity to individuals involved in unregulated deposit schemes, including Bishal Phukan and Sumi Borah. Pending departmental proceedings, the Inspector’s suspension is part of ongoing investigations into the illegal investment operations.

Assam Police have registered 28 cases so far related to these schemes and have arrested several individuals linked to them. These actions reflect the Assam government’s commitment to rooting out corruption and ensuring accountability within the force.

The crackdown is expected to further intensify as Assam Police continue their investigations into the wider network of unregulated deposit schemes plaguing the state.
