KPLA Cadres Surrender in Karbi Anglong: Police Efforts Lead to Successful Disarmament

In a significant breakthrough, three members of the newly-formed militant group, Karbi People's Liberation Army (KPLA), have surrendered to the police in Karbi Anglong, Assam. The organization, which emerged in July 2024, had reportedly been attempting to carry out extortion activities in the regions of Langlokso, Nihanglangso, and Borpung.

The Director General of Police, Assam, G.P. Singh, shared the news on X, stating that the sustained efforts by the police in the area led to the surrender of the cadres. The surrendered individuals handed over three 0.32 caliber pistols along with two rounds of live ammunition to the Karbi Anglong police team.

This surrender is seen as a major success in curbing the activities of the KPLA, which had been a growing concern in the region. The Assam Police have been actively working to dismantle such groups to ensure peace and security in the area. The surrender of these cadres is expected to send a strong message to other insurgent groups operating in the state.

Authorities believe that continued pressure and strategic operations will further weaken the KPLA's influence, leading to more surrenders in the future.
