The NSS Cell of Gauhati University was recently honored by the Minister of Transport, Fisheries, and Science and Technology, Sjt Keshab Mahanta, for its exemplary work in raising awareness about HIV and AIDS. The recognition was awarded during a function organized by the Assam AIDS Control Society, held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.
Dr. Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director of Students' Welfare and NSS Program Coordinator at Gauhati University, along with volunteer Rituparno Bora, were felicitated by Minister Mahanta for their successful implementation of the AIDS and HIV awareness campaign. The Minister commended Dr. Kakati and the NSS volunteers for their dedicated service to the community and urged them to continue their impactful work.
Under the leadership of Dr. Kakati, who is also a National Award winner, the NSS Cell of Gauhati University oversees 15,600 volunteers across 156 colleges. These volunteers are actively engaged in various social initiatives, making a significant difference in their communities.
Minister Mahanta’s recognition of the NSS Cell’s efforts highlights the importance of such awareness campaigns in society and sets a precedent for continued social work aimed at improving public health and education.
