Assam Set to Become Global Electronics Hub with 27,000 Job Potential

Jagiroad, Assam – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media platform X to announce the commencement of the Tata Semiconductor facility in Jagiroad. The new plant, with a projected investment of ₹27,000 crore, is set to transform Assam into a global electronics hub, creating over 27,000 jobs and attracting a world-class industrial ecosystem.

In his post, CM Sarma expressed his pride and gratitude, stating, "Proud! Assam set to become the next global electronic hub." He credited the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, Srimanta Sankardev, and the support of the people of Assam for this milestone achievement. 

"With the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, Srimanta Sankardev and our people, I performed the Bhumi Pujan of the Tata Semiconductor facility in Jagiroad along with Chairman of Tata Sons, Shri N Chandrasekaran," Sarma posted.

Visionary Leadership and Support

He emphasized that this significant development was made possible by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the determination of Tata Sons’ Chairman Emeritus, Ratan Tata. The unwavering support from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), led by Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, was also pivotal.

"This ₹27,000 cr plant has an employment potential of over 27,000 jobs and will attract a world-class industrial ecosystem that will spur India’s quest to become a global leader in new age tech," he noted, adding that the project's success would not have been possible without the combined efforts of these key figures and the hard work of the Tata Companies team.

Chief Minister Sarma praised the people of Assam for their continued faith in the government, which drives the state to "chase dreams, set new benchmarks, and constantly strive for the better."

The new Tata Semiconductor facility is poised to put Assam on the map as a leader in the global electronics industry, setting a new standard for innovation and development in the region.
