KHERONI, Assam – In a tragic incident, a woman died from a lightning strike while working in the fields collecting grass for cows in West Karbi Anglong District. The deceased, identified as Indrawati Devi, was the wife of Shiumangal Chouhan and a resident of Ramthepi Village, Jengkha. The incident occurred on July 8.
Indrawati Devi was struck by lightning while she was working in the field. Following the strike, she was rushed to Kheroni Model Hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival. She had sustained severe burn injuries on her body and clothing due to the lightning strike.
Her body has been sent to Diphu Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) for a postmortem examination today, July 9, 2024.
The community is in shock and mourning the loss of Indrawati Devi, highlighting the dangers of lightning strikes, especially in rural areas where people are often outdoors. Authorities are urging residents to take precautions during thunderstorms to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
