Agartala, Tripura – In a late-night operation on July 4, Tripura Police apprehended sixteen Rohingya nationals for illegal entry into India. The arrests occurred at the Dharmanagar Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in the North District, an area bordering Assam and Mizoram.

The group, consisting of eleven adults and five minors, was intercepted based on a tip-off. The adults have been identified as Mustafa Khatrou (60), Tauaba (35), Fatima Khatun (25), Rahana Begum (38), Mohammad Sabi (30), Mohammad Ibrahim (39), Fauzul Islam (22), Mohammad Sultan (28), Noor Mohammad (68), Abdul Malik (23), and Mohammad Hasan (33). The names of the minors have not been disclosed.

"Upon receiving information, we quickly moved to the Dharmanagar ISBT and discovered the group at the bus stand. During initial questioning, they claimed to be from the Kutupalong and Balukhali refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, as well as the Zilla Udan area. They admitted to entering India illegally and intended to travel to other states for work via a night bus," stated a police official.

Currently, the adults are being held at Dharmanagar Police Station, while the minors are under the care of the Women Police Station. Authorities have initiated an investigation, registered a case against the detainees, and presented them in court for further legal action.
