ASSAM, 21 July 2024: Today, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired the Executive and Annual General Meetings of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) for 2024.
During the meeting, Dr. Sarma discussed various strategies to promote badminton across the country. Key points included developing better infrastructure and improving coaching facilities to support rising talents. He acknowledged the valuable suggestions from BAI members and praised their efforts in maintaining high standards of training. The use of international coaches, physiotherapists, and conditioning experts at academies was especially noted.
Dr. Sarma also celebrated the achievements of Indian badminton players, who won 233 medals in senior and junior categories in the last international season. These successes have significantly boosted India's standing in the global badminton community.
One of the major highlights was India winning its first bronze medal at the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship in Dubai.
The meeting underscored the ongoing commitment to elevate India's status in the world of badminton.
