Tinsukia, Assam- In a significant advancement for India's Oil & Gas industry, the Dirok Field in Tinsukia district has achieved a remarkable milestone. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, shared this development on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the sector's dedication to exploring new resources and optimizing existing ones in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.
Located in the ON-94/1 block at Margarita, the Dirok Field is operated by Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC) in collaboration with Oil India Limited (OIL) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). The field has successfully tested a new reservoir, Sand-9, in well Dirok-1, which has reported a flow rate of 6 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
This achievement is a testament to the concerted efforts and advanced exploration techniques employed by the operators. Further production testing is currently underway to validate these results and to potentially expand the field's proven reserves. This development not only strengthens India's energy security but also reinforces the country's commitment to harnessing its domestic resources efficiently.
The successful testing at the Dirok Field marks a significant step forward in the country's energy sector, reflecting the ongoing efforts to enhance production capabilities and meet the growing energy demands.
