Body of Drowned Youth Recovered After 18-Hour Search at Siloni Picnic Spot


DIPHU – The body of 17-year-old college student Roshan Basumatary was recovered after an extensive 18-hour search at Siloni Picnic Spot in Karbi Anglong District. Roshan, a resident of Panbari, Diphu, had gone to the picnic spot with friends on Monday for a bath in the Siloni River.

According to sources, Roshan was swept away by a strong current around 2:30 PM while bathing. Despite immediate efforts by friends and police officials, the body could not be located the same day. The next morning, a specialized search team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in Hojai joined the operation.

The SDRF team resumed the search at first light and successfully found Roshan’s body around 10 AM today. Local police from the Manja Police Station were actively involved in the operation from the beginning, responding promptly to the incident reported by the locals.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers of the river currents at the popular picnic spot, underscoring the need for increased safety measures and awareness among visitors.
