Assam: NHIDCL Terminates Contracts of Two Companies for Poor Performance on NH 37 Project
Contracts Expected to Be Awarded Next Month Following Evaluation
Guwahati, Assam | The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) has terminated the contracts of two construction companies, Kamac Engineering and Shiva Harlalka (Joint Venture), due to their inadequate performance in the four-laning project of the Jhanji to Demow stretch on NH 37.

Background and Termination

The companies were awarded the contract in July 2022, with an original completion date set for March 2024. However, by March 31, 2024, only 35.56% of the work had been completed, prompting NHIDCL to terminate their contracts. The project, spanning 44.08 km, had a budget of Rs 1369.02 crore.

New Tender Process

NHIDCL has already initiated a new tender process for the remaining work. The project has been divided into four packages:
Package 1: 11 km, with a tender value of Rs 66.09 crore.
Package 2: 13 km, with a bid value of Rs 77.56 crore.
Package 3: 20 km, with a bid value of Rs 52.48 crore.
Package 4: Construction of a toll plaza, valued at Rs 21.35 crore.

Future Plans

The tenders for these packages are currently under evaluation, and NHIDCL expects to award the contracts to the successful bidders next month, ensuring the timely completion of the project.
