Chief Minister retains key departments including Home and Health.
Guwahati – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has executed a significant cabinet reshuffle, reallocating key ministerial roles among his team. The Governor of Assam, acting on the Chief Minister's advice, announced the changes today, marking a pivotal shift in the state's governance framework.
In the new arrangement, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will continue to oversee several crucial departments. He retains control over Home, Personnel, Public Works, Health & Family Welfare, Medical Education & Research, and Indigenous & Tribal Faith and Culture. Additionally, any unassigned departments will fall under his jurisdiction.
The reshuffle introduces new responsibilities for Minister Keshab Mahanta, who was previously in charge of Transport, Fisheries, Excise, Science, Technology & Climate Change, and Information Technology. He will now take on additional responsibilities in these vital sectors.
This cabinet reshuffle follows the resignation of Parimal Suklabaidya from the Council of Ministers, a move acknowledged and accepted by the Governor. The changes are expected to streamline operations and enhance governance across the state.
These strategic reallocations aim to bolster administrative efficiency and ensure effective management of Assam’s diverse portfolio of public services and development initiatives.
