Assam Police Nab Two Suspected Bangladeshi Terrorists In Guwahati Railway Station

Two suspected Bangladeshi terrorists linked to Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) were apprehended in Guwahati on Monday, as confirmed by the police.

Following a tip-off, authorities arrested the two Bangladeshi nationals, Bahar Mia from Brahmanbari district and Rasel Mia from Netrokona district, at Guwahati Railway station. The duo had been illegally residing in India and were reportedly in the city to recruit youths for the terror outfit.

ABT, associated with the banned terror group Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), has been on the radar of Indian security agencies due to its extremist activities.

Bahar and Rasel were found to be residing in India without valid passports. They were allegedly involved in propagating terror in Assam and other parts of India.

Upon their arrest, authorities seized several documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards, suspected to be fake and fraudulently obtained.

"These individuals visited Guwahati with the intention to recruit and radicalize vulnerable Muslim youth from Assam and other parts of India to join their terror organization," stated the police.

A case has been registered against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Passport Act, 1920, and the Foreigners Act, 1946.
