Assam's Pride: Gauhati University Dominates Cultural Championships
Gauhati University (G.U.) students have brought laurels to Assam, winning a total of 15 prizes at the 37th National Inter University Youth Festival held from March 28 to April 1, 2024. The festival was organized by the Association of Indian Universities at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.
As the winners of the North East Zonal Youth Festival earlier this year, the G.U. team participated in the national event, showcasing their talents across various cultural competitions.
In the theatre category, G.U. secured the second position in One Act Play, Skit, and Mime, along with the third position in Mimicry. The university's music contingent won the second prize in Folk Orchestra and Classical Instrumental (Percussion), as well as the third position in Western Group Song.
Additionally, G.U. bagged the second position in the Cultural Procession event and emerged as the third Best Team overall in the Theatre and Fine Arts categories.
The G.U. team was led by Dr. Debashis Saikia and Dr. Irani Hazarika under the guidance of Dr. Ranjan Kr Kakati, Director of Students' Welfare (DSW), G.U.
Prof. Pratap Jyoti Handique, Vice-Chancellor of G.U., Dr. Hemanta Kr Nath, Registrar, Dr. Jagadish Sarma, Secretary of University Classes, and Dr. Ranjan Kr. Kakati, DSW, congratulated the entire team for their outstanding achievements, bringing glory to the state and the university.
