Sikkim CM Reaffirms India's Territorial Integrity During 'Religious Visit' to Dharamshala
In a firm assertion of India's sovereignty, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has reiterated the state's unwavering stance on the nation's territorial integrity. These remarks came during his visit to Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, which he described as a "religious visit."
Addressing the media upon his arrival, CM Tamang underscored the significance of his journey, stating, "This is a religious visit. I am here for the 'darshan' of His Holiness the Dalai Lama." The Chief Minister's remarks during his visit to Kangra district carried a resounding message of unity and territorial cohesion.
Addressing concerns over territorial claims, CM Tamang stated, "Sikkim is an integral part of India. They (China) can claim whatever they want. We are a part of the vast country of India. If they (China) make false claims, so what? There is no truth in it..."
The Chief Minister's unwavering stance comes in the wake of recurring territorial disputes and boundary tensions between India and its neighbors. By reaffirming Sikkim's status as an integral part of the Indian Union, CM Tamang has sent a strong message of national unity and solidarity.
The visit to Dharamshala, which holds immense spiritual significance for Buddhists, is seen as an opportunity for the Chief Minister to seek blessings and guidance from the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the Tibetan Buddhist community.
While the primary purpose of the visit is religious, CM Tamang's remarks have taken on a broader significance, underscoring the importance of safeguarding India's territorial integrity and sovereignty in the face of any external challenges or claims.
As tensions continue to simmer along various borders, the Chief Minister's resolute stance serves as a reminder of the unwavering commitment of India's states to uphold the nation's unity and territorial sanctity.
