Karbi Anglong Emerges Victorious in Thrilling Final Match Against Dibrugarh Girls, Sonali Basumatary's Goal Secures Championship Victory
Diphu, 9 March, 24: In a riveting display of skill and determination, the Karbi Anglong girls' football team emerged triumphant in the Under-19 Khel Maharan State Level Football Tournament, held at the Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium. Organized by the Director of Sports & Youth Welfare, Government of Assam, in collaboration with the District Administration and the District Sports & Youth Welfare department under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), the tournament culminated with an exhilarating final match.
Facing off against the visiting team from Dibrugarh, the Karbi Anglong girls showcased their prowess in a fiercely contested match that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. Despite a deadlock persisting throughout the regulation 60 minutes, both teams displayed resilience and tactical prowess, keeping the scoreline at 0-0.
As the tension mounted, it was Sonali Basumatary's moment of brilliance that proved to be the difference-maker. In the dying moments of extra time, Basumatary's expertly taken free kick found its mark, propelling Karbi Anglong into the lead with a score of 1-0. With this crucial goal, Karbi Anglong secured victory, clinching the championship title amidst jubilant celebrations from players and fans alike.
