Sonitpur, 10 March, 24: In a significant move towards renewable energy, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony of a groundbreaking ceremony for a ₹300 crore, 50 MW solar power plant in Sonitpur today.
The event marks a milestone in Assam's journey towards sustainable energy production, as within the past week alone, the state has initiated projects to generate a total of 130 MW of solar power. The newly unveiled solar plant is poised to contribute significantly to Assam's energy infrastructure and reduce its reliance on traditional sources.
Chief Minister Sarma reiterated the government's commitment to establishing Assam as a key player in the green energy sector. With an ambitious target of producing 3000 MW of solar power by 2028, the state aims to emerge as a leading hub for solar energy in the country.
