12 February, 24: In a significant move towards bolstering Assam's development trajectory, the state government has unveiled the Assam Budget 2024-25, packed with major announcements aimed at fostering growth and inclusivity across various sectors. Here's a glance at the key highlights from the budget:

1. 10% Reservation for Eligible Agniveers in Assam Police:
   - In a bid to promote representation and inclusivity, the budget allocates a 10% reservation for eligible Agniveers in the Assam Police force.

2. Incentives to Small Tea Growers:
   - The budget introduces various incentives for small tea growers, including the establishment of Start-Up Incubation hubs at AEC, Guwahati, and JEC, Jorhat.
   - Additionally, a training center will be set up at Padmashree Hemaprova Chutia's residence to provide skill development opportunities.

3. PM Vishwakarma Portal Applications:
   - Assam has seen a significant influx of applications on the PM Vishwakarma portal, with a total of 4,97,968 applications received to date, ranking it as the 6th highest in the country.

4. Amrit Guwahati Integrated Global City (Amrit-GiG City):
   - The budget envisions the creation of a world-class integrated business city, Amrit Guwahati Integrated Global City (Amrit-GiG City), spanning an area of 1000 acres.

5. Assam Centre for Excellence for Artificial Intelligence:
   - Recognizing the importance of emerging technologies, the budget includes plans for the establishment of the Assam Centre for Excellence for Artificial Intelligence.

6. Gyan Dhara - Experiential Learning Through VR:
   - Gyan Dhara, touted as the first of its kind in the country, will offer experiential learning opportunities through Virtual Reality (VR) technology.

7. Increase in Ex-Gratia Amount:
   - The ex-gratia amount in case of unfortunate death of employees working in ASRLM, SSA & NHM has been increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹7.5 lakh, providing enhanced financial support to their families.

8. Monthly Remuneration for Gaon Pradhans:
   - Gaon Pradhans rendering service in forest areas along the Assam-Nagaland and Assam-Arunachal Pradesh borders in 2024-25 will receive monthly remuneration, recognizing their vital role in these regions.
