Armed Miscreants Strike Again in Manipur, Targeting Villages in Imphal East District
Second Attack in Two Days Sparks Tensions Amidst Rising Violence

Imphal, Manipur- 7 February, 24: In a disturbing escalation of violence, armed miscreants carried out yet another attack, this time targeting Itham Moirang Purel village in Imphal East district on February 7. This incident comes on the heels of a similar attack at Tumukhong village just a day prior, intensifying concerns over security in the region.

According to reports, the assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, launched their assault around 3:10 am, targeting village defense volunteers and security personnel. Security forces swiftly responded, leading to an exchange of fire. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported thus far.

The attackers are believed to have descended from the hills of Molham Kuki Village, advancing towards the sand mining area situated between Nongdam Tangkhul and Tumukhong Meetei Village. Yesterday's attack saw indiscriminate firing towards individuals engaged in sand mining, narrowly avoiding harm to innocent miners.

Authorities are on high alert following these consecutive incidents, with investigations underway to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the safety of local communities. The recent surge in violence underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures and concerted efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
