Vigilance Cell Takes Action Against Corruption in Naduar Revenue Circle
Assam- 7 February, 24: In a significant crackdown on corruption, the anti-corruption department of Assam has apprehended Arafad Alom Bora, a Lot Mandal of Naduar Revenue Circle, for allegedly soliciting a bribe.
According to the CM Vigilance cell, a complaint lodged with the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, accused Arafad Alom Bora of demanding a bribe of Rs. 5,000 for name correction and updation in land records.
Refusing to succumb to bribery, the complainant sought legal intervention from the Directorate to address the misconduct of the public servant.
Taking swift action, a team from the Directorate laid a trap on February 7, 2024, at the office of the Circle Officer, Naduar Revenue Circle. Arafad Alom Bora was caught red-handed accepting Rs. 2,000 as part of the bribe demand.
The tainted money was seized from his possession in the presence of independent witnesses, and a case was registered at the ACB Police Station under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
With substantial evidence against him, Arafad Alom Bora has been arrested in connection with the case, and legal proceedings are underway to address the matter effectively.
The arrest underscores the commitment of the Assam government to combat corruption and uphold the integrity of public service. Such decisive actions send a strong message that corrupt practices will not be tolerated, reaffirming the state's dedication to transparency and accountability in governance.
