Dark Turn of a Trip: Two Minors Subjected to Assault in Arunachal Pradesh, Culprits Apprehended
Arunachal Pradesh/Assam: In a distressing incident that transpired recently, four individuals have been arrested for their alleged roles in the kidnapping and sexual assault of two minor girls from Arunachal Pradesh. The incident highlights the pressing need to expose such crimes and collectively work towards creating a safer environment.The victims, aged fourteen and twelve, went missing from their residence in Chandannagar, Arunachal Pradesh, on January 20. Acting swiftly, the Arunachal Pradesh Police collaborated with Assam Police, resulting in the rescue of the girls in Assam on January 21. Subsequently, they were safely returned to Itanagar on January 22.
According to SP Itanagar Capital, Rohit Rajbir Singh, the investigation revealed that the two girls had voluntarily left their home in Itanagar for a trip to Tripura. Unfortunately, their journey took a dark turn when they encountered an individual at Naharlagun Railway Station posing as a police officer. The situation escalated as the girls were transported to a hotel in Harmoti, where they were subjected to sexual assault.
Simultaneously, a missing persons case was filed at the Itanagar Women Police, initiating a thorough investigation. The trail led authorities to a parlour in Guwahati, managed by one of the accused individuals. The ensuing police action resulted in the prompt arrest of all four culprits within 48 hours of learning about the sexual assault.
Shockingly, one of the accused individuals is identified as a constable at the 2nd IR Battalion, currently posted at Naharlagun. Another perpetrator, operag a parlour in Guwahati and has been stated to be a habitual offender and has previously been arrested for possessing drugs.
