Twitter (X) Spat: Assam Congress Jabs Sarma Over Ram Mandir, BJP Fires Back
Himanta Biswa Sarma Challenges Congress Over Ram Mandir Invitation Snub: Ideological Clash Unfolds
January, 14, 2024: In a recent social media post on X, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma voiced his disappointment with the Congress party for declining an invitation to the Shri Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Mahotsava from the Vishva Hindu Parishad (@VHPDigital). Sarma viewed this gesture as a golden opportunity for Congress to reconcile with its historical stance against the Ram Mandir.

Expressing his views, Sarma suggested that Congress did not merit the invitation in the first place due to its historical opposition to the Ram Mandir. He proposed that by accepting the invitation, Congress could have symbolically apologized to the Hindu Samaj, drawing parallels to Pt Nehru's actions with the Somnath Temple. Sarma concluded by predicting that history would continue to judge Congress as an anti-Hindu party.

In response, the official Assam Congress Twitter handle questioned Sarma's absence from the Ram Mandir inauguration. The tweet playfully speculated whether Sarma's political sins had been washed away in the BJP washing machine or if Lord Ram couldn't forgive him for his past actions, widely known in Assam.

Without missing a beat, the Assam BJP swiftly responded, clarifying that it was a Pran Pratishtha, not an inauguration, emphasizing the cultural and religious significance of the event. Their response took a sarcastic turn, suggesting that those familiar only with "Italian dissuasion" wouldn't comprehend Sanatan Sanskar. The BJP also claimed that the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had extended an invitation to Congress leaders, insinuating that they lacked the courage to accept it, possibly due to a fear of disappointing international sponsors.

Delving into the ideological clash between Himanta Biswa Sarma, Congress, and the Assam BJP, it's evident that this exchange reflects deep-rooted political and cultural divisions. Analyzing the historical context and providing a balanced perspective on the implications of these social media exchanges contributes to a comprehensive understanding of this unfolding political narrative.
