2 January, 24 - Manipur: Manipur faced a grim start to the year 2024 as an unfortunate incident of firing in Lilong Chingjao resulted in the loss of four lives and left fourteen others injured, several in critical condition.
The shocking incident unfolded when armed miscreants, donned in police uniforms, reportedly attacked unsuspecting people in Lilong Chingjao. The assailants, arriving in four vehicles, opened fire, leading to the tragic death of four individuals and causing injuries to fourteen others.
In the aftermath of the attack, an enraged mob responded by setting two of the assailants' vehicles ablaze, expressing their collective anger and grief over the incident.
As tensions soared, authorities imposed an indefinite curfew across all Valley districts as a precautionary measure. Additional forces have been deployed to sensitive areas to prevent any potential unrest. Reports also indicate heightened tensions in the state capital, Imphal, following the violent episode.
