Assam- 22 January, 24: A Nyay Yatra rally in Jamuguri under the Sootea constituency took a violent turn as some BJP workers reportedly attacked Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President, Bhupen Borah. The incident occurred after the Nyay Yatra rally was abruptly halted, resulting in chaos and clashes between party members.
APCC President Bhupen Borah sustained injuries, particularly on his nose, during the altercation. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken a serious note of the incident and promptly instructed the police to register a case against those responsible.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam, G.P. Singh, addressed the situation on social media platform X. He referred to a road event organized by the Indian National Congress and laid down guidelines to be followed. The guidelines included adherence to resolutions, avoiding unscheduled stoppages, and ensuring the safety of the participants, particularly an ASL (Advanced Security Liasion) Protectee.
The road event was marred by tensions, reportedly triggered when chants of "Jai Shree Ram" were raised in the presence of Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Nayay Yatra. This led to an outburst from the Congress leader.
On the eve of Shri Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha, Ram Bhakts have every right to chant Jai Shri Ram.

Rahul Gandhi shouldn’t lose his cool and be allergic to the chanting of Jai Shri Ram . He cannot instigate violence and threaten the public in this manner 🙏
