In a seismic triumph for the Indian film industry, Prabhas' latest blockbuster, "Salaar," has stormed into the limelight, securing its place as the biggest opener of 2023. According to early estimates reported by Sacnilk, the film amassed an impressive Rs 95 crore on its opening day, transcending language barriers and captivating audiences across the nation.
The heartland of "Salaar's" success lies in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions, where it raked in a staggering Rs 70 crore. The Telugu areas boasted an overall occupancy rate of 88.93%, showcasing the film's unwavering popularity. Karnataka and Kerala also contributed significantly, with opening day box office earnings of Rs 12 crore and Rs 5 crore, respectively.
This resounding victory propels Prabhas ahead of formidable competitors like Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan," Jawan, and Ranbir Kapoor's "Animal." While "Pathaan" secured Rs 57 crore on its first day in India, "Jawan" and "Animal" reported openings of Rs 75 crore and Rs 63 crore, respectively.
Directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, "Salaar: Part 1: Ceasefire" features Prabhas in the lead role, supported by a stellar cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu. The movie, with a runtime of 2 hours and 55 minutes, has received an 'A' certificate from the censor board due to its intense combat sequences, violence, and battle scenes.
