GUWAHATI, 8 December, 23: In a significant move gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has formally invited aspiring candidates from the Indian National Congress (INC) to contest for the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam. The circular, issued on December 8, 2023, outlines the application process and key details for potential contenders.
Under the directive of Hon'ble President Shri Bhupen Kumar Borah, the APCC calls upon all interested INC members to submit their applications from December 11, 2023. The process requires candidates to obtain and fill the application form, either from the Assam PCC HQ Rajiv Bhawan, Guwahati, or through the official Assam PCC website.
To formalize their candidacy, applicants must submit a Demand Draft of Rs 1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only) drawn in favor of "Assam Pradesh Congress Committee" alongside the application form. The circular emphasizes adhering to the prescribed format and includes a mandatory undertaking, ensuring accuracy and completeness in the application process.
In the event that the INC decides to allocate seats to allies, impacting a candidate's chosen constituency, the Party assures reimbursement of the Application Fee. Candidates are urged to stay informed about the evolving dynamics of seat allocations.
Applications are to be submitted by December 19, 2023, marking the culmination of this crucial phase in the democratic process. The prescribed Applications Format, available both offline and online, can be obtained from the Assam PCC HQ or downloaded from the official website.
After submitting the Application Form at APCC, candidates are required to furnish a xerox copy of the application form and the demand draft to the District Congress Committee (DCC) President and Block Congress Committee (BCC) President of the respective Lok Sabha constituency. This must be accompanied by a certified copy of the voter list, ensuring the inclusion of the applicant's name.
