Smart Policing Triumph: Assam Witnesses Remarkable Crime Reduction of 50% According to Latest NCRB Data
Guwahati, 5 December, 23: In a significant achievement for Assam's law enforcement, the state has experienced a substantial 50% reduction in the crime rate since 2021, as per the latest report from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media, specifically X (formerly Twitter), to share this noteworthy accomplishment. CM Sarma stated, "The latest NCRB report suggests overall crime in Assam has reduced by nearly 50% since 2021. Our efforts in transparent recruitment and investments in SMART policing are bearing fruit. We will not rest till Assam is crime-free."
Attributing the remarkable decline in crime to strategic policing initiatives and the state government's transparent and expeditious police recruitment process, CM Sarma expressed determination to continue efforts towards making Assam a crime-free state.
According to the NCRB report, the crime rate per lakh population has seen a significant decrease from 341 to 194.2. Additionally, the incidents recorded under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) special and Local Laws (SLL) have reduced from 1,33,239 to 68,937.
This achievement underscores the success of Assam's commitment to efficient law enforcement, emphasizing transparency in recruitment and the implementation of SMART policing strategies.
