An 11-year-old girl bravely reveals her ordeal as she becomes a victim of alleged sexual assault in a remote village.
DIPHU, Dec. 18: In a distressing incident that unfolded in Karbi Anglong, an 11-year-old girl fell victim to alleged sexual assault by Longki Phangcho of Bithiphang Khelan Tisso village, situated under the jurisdiction of Manja Police station.
The young girl, a second-grade student and domestic help residing in Longki Phangcho's home, courageously disclosed the harrowing experience to her neighbor's sister-in-law, bringing the shocking incident to light.
According to villagers, the accused, Longki Phangcho, resorted to threats against the victim, warning of dire consequences if she dared to reveal the matter. Exploiting the absence of her family members, Phangcho reportedly subjected the young girl to multiple instances of molestation. Driven by unbearable pain, the victim finally broke her silence, disclosing the matter to the villagers. Subsequently, the accused fled the village.
Expressing their outrage, the village headman declared that Longki Phangcho would be barred from returning to the village, and his residence would be demolished.
In response to the grievous situation, the family of the victim has lodged a complaint at Dongkamukam Police Station. However, the accused, Longki Phangcho, remains at large, evading law enforcement.
This disturbing incident has prompted local authorities to intensify efforts to apprehend the accused and ensure justice for the traumatized victim. The community stands united against such heinous acts, advocating for swift action to bring the perpetrator to justice and prevent future occurrences of such atrocities.
