In a noteworthy pursuit of academic standardization, the State Eligibility Test (SET) by the SLET Commission, Assam, takes center stage for the academic year 2023-2024. This comprehensive Information Brochure unravels the essence of SET, shedding light on its purpose, eligibility criteria, examination process, and more.

Concept of STATE ELIGIBILITY TEST (SET):
Introduced by the Government of India in 1988, the National Eligibility Test (NET) aimed to ensure a consistent benchmark for graduate and postgraduate teaching. Acknowledging the diverse educational landscape, states were granted autonomy to conduct their assessments. In response, Assam established the SET Commission, catering to the educational needs of the Northeast region.

Recruitment Rules:
Candidates who successfully clear the SET find themselves under the governance of rules and regulations governing the recruitment of Assistant Professors in universities and colleges.

Eligibility to sit for SET:
- General/Unreserved/EWS candidates with a minimum of 55% marks in Master's or equivalent are eligible. For SC, ST, PWD, and OBC (non-creamy layer), the threshold is 50%.
- Candidates anticipating final results or facing delays in qualifying examinations can provisionally apply.

Examination Details:
- The test will consist of two papers with objective-type questions.
- Paper I assesses teaching/research aptitude, testing reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.
- Paper II consists of 100 objective-type questions based on the subject of study.

Fee Structure:
- General/Unreserved: ₹1200/-
- OBC (Non-creamy layer): ₹1000/-
- SC/ST/PWD/EWS: ₹700/-

Candidates can pay fees through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or Wallet. Applicable service/processing charges are to be paid by the candidate.
