Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma Leads Applause: Assam's Moment of Silkyara Triumph
Guwahati, 29 November, 2023: In a momentous event that resonates with relief across Bharat, the Silkyara Tunnel rescue operation concludes successfully, bringing back 41 workers who endured a 17-day ordeal. The prayers of the entire nation, including the 130 crore citizens, have been answered as resilience and courage shine through.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressing collective relief, highlights the role of decisive leadership under Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi. The successful rescue becomes a testament to the power of human determination and collective efforts, guided by effective leadership.
Notably, two brothers from Kokrajhar, Ram Prasad Narzary and Sanjay Basumatary, have emerged safely from the tunnel, bringing personal relief to the Chief Minister. He attributes their safe return to the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, emphasizing the importance of prayers during challenging times.
The close coordination between the Assam government and the families of the rescued workers underscores the commitment to the welfare of its citizens. Himanta Biswa Sarma acknowledges the relentless efforts of Uttarakhand CM Shri Pushkar Dhami, the NDRF team, tunneling expert Arnold Dix, and all officials and rescue workers involved in the mission.

Expressing solidarity with the families of the two youth from Ramfabil, Kokrajhar, he assures that the Assam government has been in constant touch with on-ground authorities in Uttarakhand.
Arrangements have been made for the family members of the rescued workers from Kokrajhar to travel to Uttarakhand, further showcasing the proactive approach of the Assam government in ensuring the well-being and support for its citizens during such challenging times.
