Preliminary reports indicate that during an area domination operation, Assam Rifles were encamped in the forest of Pangchun village in Kharsang. The situation took a drastic turn when a young man, Limong Lungri, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg while he was out hunting.
The Assam Rifles, responding to the sound of gunfire, mistakenly identified the youth as a militant, triggering the unfortunate incident. Following the incident, locals expressed their discontent by surrounding the Assam Rifles camp in Kharsang, staging protests against the security forces.
The injured youth has been identified as Lameng Lungri, highlighting the gravity of the situation. In the aftermath of the firing, concerned locals gathered at Kharsang Police Station, prompting authorities to deploy heavy security to restore order and control the escalating tensions.
