Tragic Incidents Mar Durga Puja Celebrations in Guwahati

Guwahati, Assam – October 24, 2023: Amid the vibrant and joyous celebrations of Durga Puja in the state, two tragic incidents have cast a shadow over the festivities as two bodies were discovered from different locations in Guwahati. In a shocking turn of events, an unidentified man's life was brutally cut short in the Hengerabari area, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.

The victim, a nameless e-rickshaw driver, met a gruesome fate that unfolded in broad daylight. Local residents, who were the first to stumble upon the horrifying scene, found the man's lifeless body drenched in a pool of blood. It is suspected that the victim fell prey to unknown assailants who mercilessly attacked and stabbed him. Quick-thinking passersby near the LP school immediately alerted the police to the chilling incident.

What adds to the unsettling nature of this crime is the fact that the entire act was captured on camera. In the distressing footage, a man is seen brandishing a sharp object as he approaches the unsuspecting rickshaw puller. The assailant callously and relentlessly stabs the victim with the weapon, leaving little doubt about the intent behind this heinous act.

Sources indicate that the victim has been identified as Khagen Das, while the accused has been named as Tileshwar Das. As the gravity of this crime became apparent, the Dispur police swung into action, taking possession of the victim's body for a thorough post-mortem examination and initiating an earnest investigation into the matter.

In a separate incident that further unnerves the community, another lifeless body was discovered near the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in the Lokhra area. The unfortunate discovery was made beneath a transformer, hidden behind the fencing at Bathoupuri. The identity of this individual remains a mystery, and the Gorchuk police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this disturbing incident.
