Md. Noor Hussain Arrested in Silchar for Involvement in Scorpio Bombing in Manipur
Silchar, 16th October, 2023 - In a significant breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in collaboration with Assam Police, apprehended Md. Noor Hussain from Silchar, Cachar District, Assam today in connection with the Kwakta Scorpio bomb blast case that occurred in Bishnupur District, Manipur. This arrest marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing investigation.
The Kwakta bomb blast incident, which took place on 21st June 2023, involved an IED-laden Scorpio vehicle that was parked on a bridge in the area of Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai and Kwakta along Tiddim road, Bishnupur District, Manipur. The explosion resulted in injuries to three individuals, and significant damage was inflicted on the bridge as well as nearby houses.
The case was initially registered by Manipur Police, with FIR number 635(6)2023 dated 21st June 2023 at PGCI Police Station, Sub Division Moirang, Bishnupur District, Manipur. Subsequently, the NIA took over the case and re-registered it on 23rd June 2023 in Imphal, Manipur.
The diligent investigations carried out by the NIA in RC 01/2023/NIA/IMP led to the identification and apprehension of Md. Noor Hussain as a suspect in the bombing incident. The arrest represents a crucial step in unraveling the details surrounding this act of violence.
NIA officials have stated that further investigations in the case are currently underway, with the aim of shedding light on the full extent of the plot and any potential accomplices.
