Law Enforcement Agencies Make Significant Discoveries in Four Districts
Imphal, Manipur - 29 October, 2023: In a series of ongoing search operations conducted by the state police of Manipur in collaboration with security forces, a significant cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and warlike stores was discovered in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Bishnupur, Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal-West districts.
During these meticulous operations, law enforcement authorities made noteworthy recoveries, including two firearms: an SMG Carbine with one magazine and a country-made 9mm pistol, along with seven ammunition rounds and ten explosives. These discoveries were made in the vicinity of Phougakchao Ikhai Mamang Leikai and Kolbung Village under Phougakchao Ikhai Police Station in the Bishnupur district.
These seizures are indicative of a broader effort by the authorities to ensure the safety and security of these sensitive areas and curb any potential threats to public safety.
Earlier, in a separate operation, security forces in Manipur successfully detained five active members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), a Maoist militant group. The arrest was made on charges of extortion and illegal possession of arms.
The search operation spanned four districts in Manipur: Kakching, Bishnupur, Imphal East, and Imphal West. During the operation, the security forces apprehended five KCP military task force cadres, who were found to be in possession of firearms, ammunition, and other warlike stores.
The seized items included a firearm accompanied by 48 rounds of live ammunition, three 7.62mm ammunition charger clips, a pistol holster, three pairs of fighting attire along with scarves, four pairs of jungle boots, and two belts.
