New Keithelmanbi, Manipur - October 09, 2023: The Kuki lnpi Moltam Lhang (KIML), New Keithelmanbi Area, has expressed profound dismay in the wake of alleged terror attacks on Kuki villages for the fifth consecutive time. These attacks, spearheaded by armed miscreants donned in central and state forces uniforms, are causing distress and fear within the community.

The most recent incident, described as the "fifth attack on the Kukis at New Keithelmanbi Kuki Area," occurred at approximately 4:20 am when armed militants, concealed in camouflage and police attire, opened fire towards Sinam Khaithong Kuki Village. This unsettling development was reported in a press release by Kuki lnpi Moltam Lhang on October 8.

KIML also reported that an earlier attack on October 4, 2023, had targeted New Keithelmanbi village. Fortunately, central security forces stationed in the area successfully repelled the assailants. However, during the attack on Sinam Khaithong village on the following morning of October 5, 2023, the house of a Kuki Assam Rifles personnel was set ablaze by the armed militants.

Additionally, the tribal body revealed that on the evening of October 5, 2023, at least four houses in L. Jangnomphai village were set ablaze, with the local church sustaining partial damage.

Despite a significant deployment of central security forces in the region, these attacks, allegedly carried out by Meiteis masquerading as state forces, highlight concerns over governance and the protection of Kuki communities. This situation reflects a perceived double standard in the administration of N. Biren Singh, suggesting the exploitation of state resources for aggression against the Kukis.

The KIML strongly condemns the biased reporting and misrepresentation of facts by state media outlets regarding past incidents. This ongoing conflict underscores the pressing need for a just and lasting resolution to the political demands of the Kuki community.

The repeated attacks on Kuki villages in New Keithelmanbi emphasize the urgency of addressing these issues and ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the region.
