Central Government Takes Decisive Action, Declares NLFT and ATTF Unlawful Associations
Government Moves to Safeguard Sovereignty and Integrity of India, Effective from October 3, 2023
Tripura - October 04 2023- In a significant and resolute measure, the Central Government of India has officially designated the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) as unlawful associations. This crucial step, effective from October 3, 2023, for a five-year duration, encompasses all factions, wings, and front organizations affiliated with these groups.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued an official notification outlining the compelling reasons behind this declaration. Among the primary justifications cited in the notification are:

1. Subversive and Violent Activities: Both NLFT and ATTF have actively engaged in subversive and violent actions, challenging the authority of the government and instilling fear among the populace. Their objective of seeking an independent nation through the secession of Tripura from India has led to a series of disruptive activities.

2. Ties with Unlawful Associations: These organizations have maintained close associations with other unlawful groups in the northeastern region, aiming to gain support for their secessionist agenda.

3. Violence and Threat to Sovereignty: Recent actions by NLFT and ATTF have been characterized by violence and lawlessness, posing a significant threat to India's sovereignty and territorial integrity. They have targeted civilians, police, and security personnel, resulting in loss of life.

4. Extortion and Unlawful Financing: NLFT and ATTF have resorted to extortion of funds from the public, including businessmen and traders in Tripura, to fund their unlawful activities.

5. Foreign Camps Establishment: These groups have established and maintained camps in neighboring countries, serving various purposes such as safe havens, training, and the procurement of arms and ammunition.

The Central Government expressed grave concern that without immediate intervention, NLFT and ATTF could escalate their secessionist, subversive, and violent activities. Additionally, there is apprehension that these organizations could engage in anti-national activities in collaboration with forces hostile to India's sovereignty.

This declaration is in accordance with the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967 and is intended to curb the unlawful activities of NLFT and ATTF, prioritizing the safety and security of the region and its residents.

The Central Government's resolute action underscores its commitment to preserving the sovereignty and integrity of India and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
