Under the leadership of Assam's Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, the government unveiled the expansion of Orunudoi beneficiaries, with the number surging from 19 lakhs to 27 lakhs this year. This is indeed a remarkable stride towards empowering the economically disadvantaged sections of women in the state.
The Orunudoi scheme, which was introduced to provide financial assistance to women in need, has been further enhanced with an increase in the financial aid provided. The initial grant of ₹830 has now been elevated to ₹1250, granting even greater financial support to the beneficiaries.
The official announcement of this commendable initiative was made by the Education Minister of Assam, Ranoj Pegu, who actively participated in the ceremonial distribution of the newly introduced 'Orunodoi Card.' This event took place in Udalguri, where 30,221 new beneficiaries were welcomed into the program under 'Orunodoi 2.0.'
During the distribution ceremony, the Education Minister expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Shri Gobinda Chandra Basumatary, as well as MLA Shri Charan Boro and several other distinguished dignitaries who graced the occasion with their presence.
This expansion of the Orunudoi program demonstrates the government's unwavering commitment to the welfare of women and their financial stability. The move not only widens the safety net for the underprivileged but also acknowledges the critical role women play in society. It serves as a testament to the dedication and vision of the Assam government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in creating a more equitable and prosperous future for the women of the state.
As the state government continues to prioritize the financial well-being of women through the Orunudoi scheme, it is expected that this initiative will pave the way for greater empowerment, financial independence, and social inclusion among women in Assam.
