Assam's Achievements Lead the Way for a Cleaner India

On October 2, 2023, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma proudly announced that Assam is now 100% ODF Plus, thanks to the unwavering dedication and perseverance of the state's administration and its people.
With the blessings of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, Assam touches a new milestone in Swachhata.
In a tweet that resonated with pride and achievement, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, "@narendramodi Assam is now 100% ODF Plus. Congratulations to all Districts! Dedication and perseverance to attain Sampoorna Swachhta has paid off. On this auspicious occasion, all the 25,437 villages of Assam are now ODF+ in the aspiring category."
The 'ODF Plus' status signifies that Assam has not only achieved Open Defecation Free (ODF) status but has also improved and sustained its sanitation practices to meet the ODF Plus criteria. This accomplishment reflects the state's dedication to improving the living conditions and health standards of its citizens.
As of April 1, 2022, Assam had already made significant progress with 15 villages achieving the ODF Plus status. However, in just a year and a half, the state has made tremendous strides, with an additional 25 villages joining the ranks of ODF Plus, bringing the total to 25437 ODF Plus villages as of October 2, 2023.
