Arunachal Pradesh Announces Visionary "Frontier Highway" Project with Rs 40,000 Crore Investment
Arunachal Pradesh Plans Ambitious "Frontier Highway" to Enhance Connectivity and Security
Massive 1,500 Km Road Project to Link Remote Areas, Bolster Strategic Significance, and Benefit the Armed Forces

Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh - October 07, 2023: In a significant move, the Arunachal Pradesh government has unveiled ambitious plans to construct a monumental road along the "India-Tibet-China-Myanmar" border, aiming to connect the farthest reaches of the state. This strategic roadway will be situated a mere 20 kilometers from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and international borders, promising to transform connectivity and security in the region.

Length and Cost of the Frontier Highway:
The forthcoming road, aptly named the "Frontier Highway," is slated to stretch a formidable 1,500 kilometers across the state's diverse terrain. In addition to this colossal project, the state administration has also committed to the construction of an additional 1,000 kilometers of roads to enhance connectivity throughout the region. Collectively, these endeavors are estimated to incur a substantial investment of approximately Rs 40,000 crore.

Significance of the Frontier Highway:
The completion of the Frontier Highway is poised to hold immense strategic value. This transformative initiative is set to usher in a new era of enhanced road connectivity across Arunachal Pradesh. Moreover, it is expected to curtail the migration from border areas and, in doing so, deliver development opportunities directly to the doorsteps of residents in remote villages.

Cities to Be Connected by Frontier Highway:
The Frontier Highway is meticulously planned to interconnect high-density populated areas with the state capital, and key locations including Tawang, Mago Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang, Mechuka, Tuting, Dibang Valley, Kibithoo, Changlang, and Dong.

The epic journey of this highway will commence in Bomdila and navigate through Nafta, Huri, and Monigong, bringing it remarkably close to the LAC, also known as the McMahon Line. The culmination of this monumental undertaking will take place in Vijaynagar, situated near the Indo-Myanmar border.

Frontier Highway Construction Blueprint:
The Arunachal Pradesh government's ambitious project aims to seamlessly integrate with the 1,811-kilometer-long Trans-Arunachal Highway, currently under construction. This extensive network will span from the north-western tip at Tawang to the south-eastern end in Kanubari, ultimately connecting to National Highway (NH)-52 near Akajan, in close proximity to the Bogibeel Bridge near Dibrugarh, Assam. This vital connection will run adjacent to Yangtse.

Benefits for the Armed Forces and Common Man:
Both the Frontier Highway and the Trans-Arunachal Highway are poised to deliver substantial benefits to both the armed forces and the general populace. These comprehensive road networks promise to facilitate seamless movement of armed forces and equipment to the border regions, thus bolstering national security. Additionally, these developments are set to transform the daily lives of citizens by enhancing connectivity and accessibility to remote areas, fostering growth and development.
