Shocking Child Abuse Allegations Surface: Gauhati University Professor Accused, Dima Hasao Resident Victim in Guwahati
The city of Guwahati grapples with a horrifying child abuse scandal, sparking concerns for the safety of its young residents
Guwahati, Assam - September 30, 2023: In a distressing turn of events, a prominent Gauhati University Assistant Professor, Dr. Sabina Langthasa, faces grave accusations of brutally torturing a 10-year-old girl employed as domestic help for over two and a half years. The incident unfolded within the confines of Piya Exotica, a sprawling residential complex nestled in the Kahilipara locality of Guwahati city.

The young victim originally hails from Umrangso, an industrial town situated within the Dima Hasao district of Assam. According to preliminary reports, the child had endured unimaginable suffering due to the alleged actions of Prof. Dr. Sabina Langthasa.

The harrowing ordeal came to light when the child was finally rescued under the vigilant care of two organizations: the Assam Centre for Rural Development and Child Friendly Guwahati, during an operation conducted on a fateful Friday.

As a result of these grave allegations, a case has been officially registered with the Bhagaduttapur Police Outpost in Kahilipara, marking yet another distressing case of child abuse within the city. This incident follows closely on the heels of the earlier accusations against individuals named Sangeeta Datta and Waliul Islam, who faced similar charges earlier this year.

Furthermore, in a related development, Utpala Bose, the personal assistant to Sangeeta Datta and a key figure implicated in the Guwahati child abuse case, recently sought a regular bail plea at the Gauhati High Court. However, the court's decision was clear, as it denied the bail request and has requested detailed information from the lower court to be submitted no later than November 14, 2023.

This shocking incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for stricter measures and increased vigilance to protect the rights and well-being of vulnerable children in our society. The community now awaits the legal proceedings and justice for the young victim, as the accused professor faces the consequences of her alleged actions.
