In a recent meeting, the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, had a fruitful discussion with the Hon’ble Union Power Minister, Shri RK Singh. During the meeting, the CM highlighted the significant increase in the demand for power, amounting to a staggering 26%. This surge in demand can be attributed to the rapid growth of productive sectors in the state's economy.
CM Sarma earnestly appealed to Union Minister RK Singh for additional power allocation to Assam. He made a personal request for the allocation of at least 300 megawatts (MW) of power to help address the ongoing power deficit in the region.
The move to secure more power for Assam is crucial, given the state's burgeoning economic activities. An increase in power supply would not only bolster the energy infrastructure but also support the state's industries, businesses, and households.
Union Minister RK Singh has assured CM Sarma that his request will be taken into serious consideration. This step, if implemented, will undoubtedly aid Assam in overcoming its current power challenges, ensuring a brighter and more energy-secure future for the state.
This discussion underscores the importance of collaboration between state and central authorities to meet the growing energy needs of India's regions, especially as they strive for economic development and prosperity.
