Tinsukia Police Crack Down on ULFA-I Operations, Nabs Former Member for Recruiting Youths
Intensified Efforts Lead to Apprehension of Surajit Gogoi, Accused of Luring Youths into Banned Outfit
Tinsukia, Assam: The Tinsukia police in upper Assam have escalated their efforts against the United Liberation Front (Independent) of Assam (ULFA-I). Recently, they successfully apprehended Surajit Gogoi, a former member of ULFA-I, who allegedly played a role in enticing young individuals to join the banned outfit. This operation comes as concerns about ULFA's activities continue to grow in the region.

Surajit Gogoi, previously associated with ULFA-I, was targeted by Aiseng Axom, who provided him with a list of 17 youths and coerced him into recruiting them into ULFA-I's ranks. The revelation of Aiseng Axom's involvement in the recruitment drive came to light after the Tinsukia police received valuable intelligence.

Acting on this intelligence, the Tinsukia police executed a well-coordinated operation, utilizing secret sources to track down and apprehend Surajit Gogoi while he was on the move. Their swift action is believed to have thwarted the attempt to recruit more young individuals into the extremist organization by arresting the former ULFA-I member.

Surajit Gogoi, who joined ULFA-I in 2021, was taken into custody by the Tinsukia police in 2022. The police investigation is currently in progress, with the aim of uncovering all aspects of the recruitment scheme and gathering sufficient evidence to bring the culprits to justice.

According to police sources, Aisaang Assam initially connected with Surajit Gogoi on Facebook, setting the wheels in motion for the recruitment plan.
